STEWARDSHIP IN YOUR LIFE

You may be wondering how you can find one more minute of time in your schedule to grab lunch, much less give of yourself to the needs of others. Or possibly you’ve recently retired, or your kids started school or moved to college and you’re wondering how you can best use your day. On either end of the spectrum and all points between, there are ways you can practice stewardship of time and talent that will fit into your life right now.

As a Total Stewardship Parish, we are a self-sufficient community through our parishioners’ generous gifts of their time, talents, treasures and prayer.

On a yearly basis, parishioners are asked to discern their Time and Talent Ministry Commitment, Treasure Intention and Prayer Commitment.

Through your generosity of TIME and TALENT, we fulfill the lay ministries during the Mass, take care of our community, and maintain our facilities.

Through your generosity of TREASURE, we can cover our expenses and improve our community.

Through your dedication to PRAYER and FAITH FORMATION, we grow in our faith journey.

WHY GET INVOLVED?

The hardest part is saying “Yes!” to God’s call to be good stewards of our gifts. Our parishioners’ Stories of Stewardship illustrate that giving IS more powerful than receiving.

Consider this prayer during your stewardship discernment:

Heavenly Father,

My parish is composed of people like me.
I help make it what it is.

It will be friendly, if I am friendly.
It will be holy, if I am holy.
Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them.
It will do great work, if I help with the work.
It will be prayerful, if I pray.
It will make generous donations to many causes, if I am a generous giver.
It will bring other people into its worship, if I invite and bring them.

It will be a parish of loyalty and love,
of generosity and faith,
if I who make it what it is, am filled with these same things.

Therefore, with the help of God,
I shall dedicate myself to the task of BEING all the things I want my parish to be.

Amen.

Share your faith as a Children's Faith Formation teacher.

Coordinate a parish activity or event.

Join the Welcoming team.

Shoot photos at parish events.

“I COULD GIVE AN HOUR OR SO EVERY MONTH OR EVERY OTHER MONTH.”

Serve as a liturgical minister such as Sacristan, Mass Facilitator, Usher or Reader.

Make coffee on Sunday for our Coffee and Donuts gathering.

Lead the Children’s Liturgy during Sunday Mass.

Count money after Mass.

Water plants inside the church.

Cultivate your interest in quilting with Loving Stitches.

Form a church cleaning team with family or friends.

Participate in Eucharistic Adoration.

Help decorate our worship space for Easter or Christmas.

Present the offertory gifts during Saturday or Sunday Mass.

Launder altar linens.

Volunteer to help with a once-a-year parish event.

Make rosaries or prayer shawls on your own time.

“I’M SCARED TO MAKE ANY MORE COMMITMENTS - I BARELY HAVE TIME TO BRUSH MY TEETH.”

Join the parish Prayer Network and pray for others on your own time.

Help fill the food barrel for the poor of our Nixa community.

Make Sunday a day for quality time with your family.

Try to set aside time each day for personal reflection and prayer.

Give a little extra of your treasure when your time is limited.
